Product Description

Caesium fluoride, anhydrous (CAS Number: 13400-13-0) is an alkaline metal and halogen.

It is used as a reagent in a number of processes such as:

  • Nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions (SNAr)
  • The formation of flurovinylic compounds through nucleophilic fluorination of alkynyliodonium salts
  • Synthesis of alcohols through hydrolysis of alkyl silyl ethers
  • For the synthesis of single-crystal Dion-Jacobson phase (CsLaTa2O7)
  • As a base in the Suzuki carbonylative coupling of enol triflates with vinyl boronic acids
  • In the preparation of building blocks for synthesis of fluoroallylic compounds

Caesium flouride is often used in organic chemistry as a base because of its low nucleophilicity. In organic synthesis, it is used for desilylation reactions. It is a catalyst for the promotion of Knoevenegal condensation.

It finds applications in infrared spectroscopy and in the synthesis of first CNS-active carborane as a P2X7 receptor antagonist.

Apollo Scientific is one of the UK's leading chemical manufacturers, suppliers and distributors, with over 25,000 compounds as potential precursors in stock, and more than 3,000 diverse compounds created in our UK labs.
