In experiments involving laboratory mice, BAQ has been shown to aid the inhibition of cancer cells growth. It can be used as a substrate for quinlinate synthase, which is useful to synthesise nicotinic acid.
BAQ has been used as an analytical method for urine samples from both bladder cancer patients and healthy subjects. Through a logistic regression algorhithm, samples can be analysed to conclude whether an individual is suffering from bladder cancer.
