Azetidine, also known as Trimethylene imine, Azacyclobutane, or 1,3-Propylenimine (CAS 503-29-7), is a saturated heterocyclic organic compound which containes three carbon atoms and one nitrogen atom.
This compound has many fruitful applications in agricultural and pharmaceutical chemistry, and can be used as a monomer and cross-linker in the polymer industry. Azetidines are useful sythons in organic chemistry as well.
It can be used in high-yielding palladium-catalysed cross-coupling reactions with aryl bromides, or with iodonitrofluorenes in an Ullman type coupling reaction. Azetidines are used as a chemical hybridising agent, and can provide oxadiazoles in good yields.
