Alpha-(Aminomethyl)-4-chlorobenzyl alcohol is a multi-functional building block molecule suitable for creating biologically active molecules. It contains two sp3 carbon atoms, which imbue rule of 5 (bRo5) characteristics to larger molecules it is incorporated into. Alpha-(Aminomethyl)-4-chlorobenzyl also has two nucleophilic centres, allowing reactions commonly utilised in medicinal chemistry programmes such as cyclisation as well as nucleophilic substitution, reductive aminations and synthesis of amides or esters. The chlorine atom allows downstream compounds to further derivatisation through metalation and coupling reactions such as Suzuki or Heck.
