2-Bromoethylamine, N-BOC protected, also known as tert-Butyl (2-bromoethyl)carbamate, and 2-[(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)amino]ethyl bromide (CAS 39684-80-5) is manufactured, supplied and distributed worldwide by Apollo Scientific.

This compound is a building block that is commonly used to prepare fluorinated spacers with nucleophilic and electrophilic termini, and to synthesise biphenyl linkers. It is an ideal candidate for implementation in cell culture experiments because it is chemically stable and can be synthesised in high yields easily. N-Boc-2-bromoethylamine can be used as a gadolinium chelate.

It can be used in the Michael Addition, in which N-Boc-2-bromoethylamine reacts with serine proteases to form peptides with amine bonds on the C terminus.

2-Bromoethylamine, N-BOC protected has been found to inhibit tumour growth, thanks to its inhibition of the cancer cells' glucose uptake, and function as an antimicrobial compound.
